Pete

Dear Dawgs,
Help me out here furiends. Does anyone know a guy named Pete? My assistant seems to be very fond of him. I hear her saying "For the love of Pete" frequently during our walks. You see, I always have lots of pee mail to leave around the neighborhood and whenever I lift my leg, she once again feels the need to express her love for Pete. I must say, however, that her tone of voice becomes more and more agitated each time she says it. By the time we round the last curve and I pull her over to the final fire hydrant on our route, she sounds downright nasty and I'm not sure if she still loves Pete or not. This has me totally baffled. Could Pete be an imaginary friend who accompanies us on our walks? Does he step on her toes or annoy her in some other way while we're walking so that she becomes irritated with him?
What, exactly, could her problem be???

Hey Tank, we have a friend named Pete that visits often at our house. M.O.M. keeps saying that to him but we never see him....strange. Maybe someday we will be quick enough to catch a glimpse of him. We will let you know if we do!!

Tank, it must be the name of the elf that is reporting back to Santa on whether you've been naughty or nice!!

Watch out for that little stinker. We've heard he told Santa all about the ornaments we used for chew toys already!!

We don't know any Pete, but apparently Abby's full name is Damnitabby... So maybe your name in a past life was Pete, and your Mom is just making sure you know she loves in all your incarnations.... Heehee.

Hmmmm...I'm not sure, Tank. But if I was you, I think I'd just play along. "Oh, yeah, mom...that Pete guy, he sure is somethin' else!" Best not to disturb her...uh...fantasy.

Naw, Pete is just the guy that reminds your mom that someday she'll be standing in front of him hoping to get into a super nice place, explaining away all the times she lost her temper with you. Saying his name reminds her to be patient with you and always treat you with love, so someday she'll be able to just breeze right into that special place. Of course, this guy Pete has other names. On our house, he's known as Jimminey Cricket.

Are you sure she's saying 'Pete'? She just might be saying, 'For the love of PEE'! Cuz if you're anything like us, that's ALL we do on our walkies!

I am thinking it is an imaginary friend that soooooo mny Moms have. They can curse him out and the best thing is he doesn't answer back.

Heh heh Tank. Maybe she's just mispronouncing the past tense of peed? ;) Kind of acknowledging your accomplishments ya know? For the love of 'peed'. She's perhaps happy you get it all out outside so no chance of peeting inside ;)

Waggin at ya,
Roo

We haven't heard about Pete in years around here so I guess our friend Pete no longer is loved. Seems our good friend around here lately has been some girl named 'Mercy' we have never seen her though. If we see Pete around here we will let you know sweet Tank. Hugs and nose kisses

Hmmm.. very interesting. We don't know that Pete guy, but momma can be heard to exclaim "ENOUGH" in her stern voice sometimes just when my mentals are getting fully stimulated by the rich scents scattered about the neighborhood.

That Pete fellow is quite the mystery-he visits around here to in the, For Pete's Sake" version.

Maybe it's a friend of the squirrels!
